Can we say Mortified?

OK so who wouldnt love this sweet little face?

Let me tell you, I just had one of those--crawl under the rug moments.
We were driving to school, and you know, he is so darn cute in his uniform and well, we are driving along singing to the High School Musical 2 music, and out pops his finger from his nose. I know, your thinking "nice"-well if you dont want to be grossed out, stop reading now.

-He held out the grossest, biggest, boogie EVER!

Wouldnt you know, I didnt have any tissues with me, because I used them all yesterday when he barfed in my car. I was grossing out, and he was freaking out-because I kept saying dont eat that, dont wipe that on the seat, dont get that on your clothes, dont get that all over my car--SOOOOOO the little stinker opens the window and starts flicking his fingers and waving his hands in hopes that the booger will fly off.

He waves rapidly over and over and the darn thing wont fling off! So, we hit the school zone and slow--way down. He is still flapping wildly-we come to a stop sign where a cute little old guy is the crossing gaurd--and Mason waves and says hi to him daily. Well not anymore as we have to find a new route to school. Mason gives his hand a huge flick and guess what goes flying off and hits the little old crossing gaurd! Yep---the booger! I died. Mason looks at me and says "mom!" I was mortified--I gunned the van and we were off. I am still dying at the fact that this poor little guy got a boogie flicked on him. I guess now I will have to get the dreaded bumper sticker that says-"If you drive to close I'll flick a booger on you!"

Ya gotta see the baby!

Do you remember the "Seinfeld" show? How about the one entitled-'Ya gotta see the baby!" I can hear Jerry and Elaine everytime I hear or say that phrase. Well Megan- she just thinks we need a new baby at our house, and she even mentioned yesterday that we should "buy" one. We just laugh out loud! We keep telling her we are too old and she keeps us busy enough. BUT we did get to see a baby yesterday and she fought me the whole time to hold the baby and to burp the baby! She loves baby Jarren. He is a keeper. There is just something about new babies! I just want to kiss on them the whole time I hold them. Steve had to remind me not to get too comfortable or hold that baby too long yesterday.

When we're helping---we're happy!

I have two children that LOVE to be in the kitchen. So much so, that they are quite self sufficient in the cooking area. They have mastered the microwave. Both can crack and cook their own scrambled eggs. Oh, and Ramen.....well Mason cooks it for exactly 3 minutes. Megan prefers to boil it all the way down so that there is very little broth left. She knows just how she loves it, and makes it to her perfection. Peeling potatoes, well after the clean up-I guess it was worth it. Now dont get me wrong, I love that they love to cook---but the clean up, OMG!!!!! But we do have some pretty great times in the kitchen together and I keep telling myself that I should be grateful that they love to cook. At least they wont starve (unlike Mikayla who has to have me pour her milk and cereal--where did she come from?).
Here is Meg baking cookies---She doubled the batch, and it took all Sunday afternoon for these babies!
Here is the buddy --- stirring the Tapioca Pudding

Have you ever played the Wii?

Have you ever played the Wii? Oh My gosh! My kids think that they have to have one now! We went out to my best friends house and played last weekend. Talk about a kick in the pants! We had so much fun! Did you know that it plays all your movement! It is the craziest thing ever. We were literally playing golf and tennis and bowling in the family room. I thought that my nephew Chris was going to go right into the TV. It was hilarious. Megan ended up being the sports winner. Of course, I am a dork with video games, so I basically sucked at it, but I had fun and I am way interested to see if they have a dance one. I think that Mikayla would rock at it. So maybe Santa will have to bring us one. Hmmmm have they been naughty or nice?

The Babysitters Club

A couple of weeks ago, we had a ward function. And for any of you who know where I live, there is a ton of kids, but a shortage of young girls to babysit. Well, my Mikayla and her cute little friend Erica were asked to babysit together. This was a first time for her and for us for that matter. I was really excited for her, because I remember loving babysitting when I was a young girl, and I made a ton of money doing it, because I was always willing. Anyways, they had such a fun time, that they decided that they wanted to form a "Babysitters Club". Just the 2 of them. This was partly due to us, because we still feel that Mikayla is a little to young to do it alone.

So the girls made a few fliers and delivered them to the neighborhood announcing that they would love to babysit if they could do it together. We talked to them about making sure the house was cleaner than when they left it, that part of being responsible was not forgetting about the kids-yadayadayada.

Well they had their second job this past weekend, and LOVED it again. They were so excited, when Erica got the call, she rushed immediately over to our house announcing that they had a job and it was in one hour! SO, excitedly Mikayla was off and running.

It makes me happy to see these two cute girls trying to be responsible, and get some good experience together before they are 12 and ready to be on their own. They are so cute-they informed me that they dont charge for church service-ie going to meetings and to the temple. AND, that they only charge as if there was one of them there, that they would split their earnings in half. It is so exciting for them.
